Santiago do Cacém

The city of Santiago is located at 3 kilometres of Monte dos Carotos and has many places of interest, such as the ancient city precinct with the citadel, the open-air museum Miróbriga with roman relics, the Badoca Safari Park and the city park with the museum.

In addition to the numerous splendid beaches and lagoons with an abundant plant and animal life, an excursion to the seaport town Sines and the calm picturesque fishing village Porto Covo is highly recommended as well. Here, windsurfers can take practical lessons at the price of only € 20, including equipment. This village also is the place to be for diving experiences and boat excursions.

Recommended destinations for daytrips are the cities of Beja, Setubal and Evora with their rich cultural past as well as Lisbon and the Algarve. Just two hours by car and you are in the heart of Portugal. If you rather not take the car, you can also to Lisbon by train and then explore the city by metro.
